Black Lives Matter protest in Portage brings around 100 protesters

PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) — A Black Lives Matter protest that began at Crossroads Mall in Portage Saturday afternoon brought around 100 people.

The gathering marched through the surrounding area calling for an end to systemic racism and police brutality. Several children also took part in the demonstration, and many protesters say that change is crucial for future generations. Organizers of the protest say that they choose July 4th as the date on purpose.
