GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Health department officials say Michigan has recorded 15 more deaths linked to coronavirus and on Wednesday confirmed 543 new COVID-19 cases, the latest state figures show.

The report also noted that thirteen of the newly recorded deaths were discovered during its regular review of death certificates.

Figures released Thursday bring the total number of COVIID deaths to 5,966 and the total number of cases to 64,675 in the nearly four months since the outbreak began.

Michigan Department of Health officials say Michigan is seeing a slight uptick in cases and a reversal in the demographics of patients, with more of them now younger than the age of 50.
