LANSING, Mich. -- Governor Gretchen Whitmer says she is planning to extend Michigan's state of emergency.
The state of emergency is currently set to expire on Friday, but the governor said during a press briefing on Wednesday that she is planning to keep the state "in some form of a state of emergency."
She said every other state is currently under some form of a state of emergency because of the coronavirus pandemic, and that extending Michigan's is "necessary to continue to have the other executive orders that we've had to be valid."
There is no word on when she plans to extend it or how far the expiration date will be pushed back.
The state of emergency is not the same as Michigan's stay-at-home order, which ended June 1st.
