Trees down, power outages as tail end of Cristobal moves in

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — As the remnants of Cristobal moved in Tuesday, the storm brought down some trees, including one onto a house in Hopkins, and left behind power outages around West Michigan.

The main storm threat for West Michigan was high winds and the possibility of an isolated tornado, Storm Team 8 says. There were gusts in excess of 60 mph in Ottawa County, higher than 45 mph in Kalamazoo and around 40 mph in Battle Creek and Muskegon.

A wind advisory remains in effect for several lakeshore counties from Ottawa north until 8 a.m. for the possibility of wind gusts between 45 mph and 60 mph. A beach hazard statement is in effect through Thursday.
