GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Rioters flocked downtown Grand Rapids Saturday night shattering the glass of many area establishments and setting multiple law enforcement vehicles on fire.
The evening started with a peaceful protest over the recent death of Minnesota man George Floyd at 6 pm Saturday at Rosa Parks Circle but escalated once the march reached Monroe Center, where the Grand Rapids Police Department is located. The tipping point of the riots hit around 9 pm when protesters started smashing in windows of local businesses.
