Lake Michigan sets new April water level record

DETROIT, Mich. (WOOD) -- Lake Michigan is once again setting a monthly water level record.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' monthly report says Lake Michigan's average water level in April 2020 was 2.76 inches higher than the old record set in 1986. It was the fourth month in a row Lake Michigan broke a previous monthly water level record.

The lake was also 13 inches higher this past month than in April 2019.

The report also said all of the other Great Lakes also experienced rising water levels in April, with Lake Erie also breaking an April record.
