2 killed in downtown Grand Rapids hit-and-run

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Two pedestrians were killed late Saturday night in downtown Grand Rapids when they were hit by a vehicle.

Authorities said it happened around 11:15 p.m. near the intersection of Grandville Avenue and Oakes Street SW. Investigators remained on the scene into early Sunday.

The Grand Rapids Police Department said the pedestrians were crossing the road in the crosswalk when a westbound vehicle disregarded the stop sign and hit them. The suspect vehicle fled the scene.
