ORIGINAL STORY:

(Christchurch, New Zealand) -- New Zealand's prime minister is calling the shootings at two mosques unprecedented acts of violence for the country.

Police have confirmed multiple deaths from the shootings in Christchurch. One person is in custody, but it's possible there are other gunmen involved.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said this is one of New Zealand's darkest days. Ardern said many of the victims are likely migrants and possibly refugees who chose New Zealand as their home.

She said the person who committed the shootings has no place in the country.
