Hotels offer discounts to stranded Ford Airport travelers

CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — While some flights are still taking off from the Gerald R. Ford International Airport , the winter storm has grounded some travelers in town.

"Driving here from the Holland area was very treacherous. I sort of feel the hardest part of the trip is over, but we'll see," said traveler Jeff Chirico.

Chirico was planning to head south when the winter storm struck, leading to dozens of flight cancellations , including his.

"My first flight was canceled, so I booked another flight, a later flight on a different airline. And I was rescheduled on the original airline later on this evening, so I'm hoping one of them will keep me away from the snow,” he explained.
