Suspect injured in Eaton Co. officer-involved shooting

CHARLOTTE, Mich. (WOOD) – A suspect is injured after an officer-involved shooting Friday evening in Eaton County.

It happened Friday around 4:15 p.m. at a residence in the 100 block of 4th Street near Cochran Avenue in Charlotte.

24 Hour News 8's Nexstar affiliated station WLNS in Lansing reports the Michigan State Police say someone called the Eaton County Sheriff's Dispatch about a fight between two people that knew each other, but when sheriff's deputies and Charlotte Police arrived, the situation escalated.

Moments after authorities arrived on scene investigators say a Charlotte police officer began shooting his gun.

The person who was shot, is not a law enforcement officer and was taken to Sparrow Hospital.

Authorities say the victim's injuries are unknown at this time.

Michigan State Police have taken over the investigation, which is standard procedure in an officer-involved shooting.

Police had 4th Street blocked off for more than five hours.
