West Michigan power outages blamed on wind

EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Windy weather caused power outages around West Michigan Monday evening.

There were two separate outages in East Grand Rapids, the first affecting fewer than 700 Consumers Energy customers and a second later affecting nearly 1,200. Elsewhere in West Michigan, smaller, spotty outages were affecting customers in metro Grand Rapids, Ottawa County, southern Allegan County and northern Van Buren County.
