No-contact advisory in Kzoo River after sewage overflow

COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A no-contact advisory has been issued for a portion of the Kalamazoo River near a sewage overflow.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Services was alerted to the overflow around 4 p.m. Saturday coming from a manhole located at 241 Parcom St. in Comstock Township.

Public Services staff is working to remove the blockage and are advising people to avoid contact with the Kalamazoo River around the immediate area.

Anyone who makes contact with raw sewage should disinfect their clothes, shoes and skin thoroughly.
