Zeke the Wonderdog unites UM, MSU fans ahead of game

GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — A halftime tradition at Spartan Stadium is the high-flying, Frisbee-catching tricks of Zeke the Wonderdog, who hails from Holland.

"I would describe Zeke as a goodwill ambassador," said Zeke's owner, Terri Foley.

For Foley, her husband and their dog, halftime performances at Spartan Stadium have been a hobby for nearly two decades.

"If somebody would've told me that I was going to own the next Zeke the Wonderdog, I would have told them they were crazy," said Foley.

The Holland couple attended Michigan State University in the late 70s and early 80s, during the reign of the first Zeke the Wonderdog.

"I loved watching him on the field, but never dreamed it would be part of my future," said Foley. The Foleys offered up their purebred yellow lab for the role in 2001.

Today, Zeke No. 3 is as much a part of the MSU culture as chants of “Go Green! Go White!”
