Family worried after beloved horse vanishes

MARTIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A family from rural Allegan County is asking for help to find their horse.

Silver, a 28-year-old white Arabian, has been missing from the Kas family's property at the corner of 120th Avenue and 6th Street in Martin Township since Saturday.

"We were here Saturday morning all working out in the yard and stuff," Sandy Kas told 24 Hour News 8 Tuesday. "We come back in the afternoon, the top line of the fence was down and Silver, our horse, was missing."

A pen sectioned off for feeding was in shambles and the gate was left open, but surveillance cameras around the property didn't capture anything out of the ordinary. There were no hoof marks in the mud and no sign of Silver anywhere.

The family has been searching nearby fields every day.

"We went to every house, farms, (thinking) maybe someone got him in a barn and is looking for his owner," Kas said. "He's a very special horse."

They've also reported the missing horse to police, but so far, there's been no luck in finding him.
