GR's Midtown to welcome 2 new restaurants

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Two dining spots are coming to Grand Rapids’ bustling Michigan Street corridor.

Developers say Chidorri Ramen & Sushi Bar and Tropical Smoothie Café will soon open in the first floor of the Diamond Place project, located at the northeast corner of Michigan Street and Diamond Avenue.

Chidorri Ramen & Sushi Bar is a new culinary spin on Asian fusion for cousins Dong Wen Wang and Shun Ci Chen, who also own Fuji Yama, Sakura and the sushi bar in the Downtown Market. The owners say the menu will include healthy homemade sushi, poke bowls, and ramen bowls at affordable prices. The 3,000 square-foot restaurant is slated to open in October.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe is part of the popular national franchise. This location will include a drive-thru window and seating for 39 guests, according to developers. The menu will span breakfast, lunch and dinner and include wraps, sandwiches, flatbreads and bowls. The café is slated to open at the end of the year.

Gordon Food Service has also signed on to open a 16,000 square-foot grocery store at the Midtown site in early fall.
