Update: Suspect in deadly motorcycle crash found


WALKER, Mich. (WOOD) — Police have arrested the driver they say took off from the hospital Tuesday after a crash that killed a motorcyclist in Walker.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Wilson Avenue and Leonard Street NW. The Walker Police Department says an eastbound driver ran a red light and hit a northbound motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was a 35-year-old man from Walker. His name was not released Tuesday night.

The driver of the car, the only person in that vehicle, was taken to Mercy Health Saint Mary's in Grand Rapids. He had to have his jaw wired shut.

He later fled the hospital. Grand Rapids Police tell us they searched the area and found him near 28th Street SE and Division Avenue at around 11:30pm Tuesday night. GRPD has since handed the suspect over to Walker Police. His named has not been released.
