GRPD: Stabbing at Rosa Parks Circle unprovoked

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was seriously injured when he was stabbed at Rosa Parks Circle in downtown Grand Rapids Monday evening.

The Grand Rapids Police Department says the victim was stabbed in the upper torso. He made his own way to the hospital and is expected to survive.

The attack around 7:30 p.m. was unprovoked, GRPD says.

The suspect was last seen running south away from Rosa Parks Circle. He was described as a man his 40s standing about 5-foot-7 with "1990s style waves in his hair." He was wearing a black shirt, blue pants and black sunglasses. He may go by the nickname Smoke.
