River Bank Run road closures

Friday Closures:

  • p.m.: Ottawa Avenue from Michigan Street to Lyon Street will have a partial closure, one lane will stay open for the parking lots along Ottawa to exit.
  • 6 p.m.: Ottawa Avenue will fully close to traffic. The far west lane will be coned from Michigan Street to Government Parking Lot for access only until 8 p.m.
  • 6 p.m.: Lyon street will close between Ionia and Monroe avenues.

Saturday Closures:

  • 3:30 a.m.: The intersection of Monroe Avenue and Lyon street will be closed.
  • 4:30 a.m.: Monroe Avenue will close between Michigan and Pearl Streets with limited access to Grand Rapids government parking lots until around 5:15 a.m. from Michigan Street.
  • 4:30 a.m. One eastbound lane of Bridge Street between Monroe and Schribner avenues.
  • 5:30 a.m.: Monroe Avenue between Pearl and Louis Streets will close.
  • 5:30 a.m.: Monroe Center will close at Monroe Avenue.
  • 5:30 a.m. Ottawa Avenue will close from Pearl to Fulton streets.
  • 6 a.m.: Pearl Street at Monroe avenue will be closed.
  • 6:45 a.m. closures:
    • Market Avenue will be closed from Fulton to Cherry streets.
    • Fulton Street will be closed between Monroe and Mt. Vernon avenues.
    • Mount Vernon Avenue to Front Avenue will be closed.
    • Front Avenue to Pearl Street, and Pearl between Front and Scribner avenues will be closed.
    • Scribner Avenue will be closed between Pearl Street and Sixth Street. 
    • Sixth Street will be closed from Scribner to Ionia avenues. 
    • Ionia Avenue will be closed between Sixth Street and Monroe Center. 
    • The ramps at US-131 and Pearl Street will be closed from 6:45 a.m. until about 9:30 a.m.
  • 7:25 a.m. closures:
    • Winter Avenue will shut down between Lake Michigan Drive and Butterworth Street.
    • Butterworth Street will be closed from Winter to Straight avenues.
    • Straight Avenue will be closed from Butterworth to Watson streets.
    • Watson Street will be closed from Straight to Gunnison avenues.
    • Gunnison Avenue will be closed from Watson to Park streets.
    • Park Street will be closed from Gunnison to Valley avenues.
    • Valley Avenue will shut down from Park Street to Lake Michigan Drive.
  • 7:45 a.m. closures:
    • Westbound Wilson Avenue will be closed between 28th Street and Butterworth. Eastbound will be converted to EB/WB, one lane in each direction 
    • Butterworth Street between Wilson Avenue and Veterans Memorial Drive will be closed. 
  • 7:55 a.m. closures:
    • Veterans Memorial Drive between Butterworth Street and Maynard Avenue.
    • Butterworth Street between Wilson Avenue and Veterans Memorial Drive.
  • 8:15 a.m. closures:
    • Butterworth between Maynard and Gunnison avenues.
    • Remaind of 25K course streets will be closed approximately 15 minutes before the lead participant of each event approaches. Some streets will stay closed past the time of the race finishing.
  • Streets to remain closed past noon:
    • Pearl Street between Monroe and Ionia avenues.
    • Monroe Center between Monroe and Ionia avenues.
    • Louis Street between Monroe and Ionia avenues.
    • Fulton Street between Winter and Ionia avenues.
    • Monroe Avenue between Michigan and Fulton streets.
      • Monroe Avenue between Pearl and Michigan streets will open around 11 a.m. Traffic may be allowed as race equipment is removed.
  • Streets to remain closed until 5 p.m.:
    • Ottawa Avenue between Michigan and Pearl streets.
    • Lyon Street between Monroe and Ionia avenues.
  • Ramps on US-131 and I-196 to be closed throughout the day:
    • I-196 EB/WB off ramp to Market Avenue will be closed from 8 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.
    • US-131 NB/SB off ramp to Market Avenue will be closed from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
    • US-131 NB/SB off ramp to Pearl Street will be closed from 6:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
