WML Friday: Drag Syndrome Controversy, I-196 Construction, & Cooler Weather

Peter Meijer, Chris Smit, & Jill Vuin join to discuss the Drag Syndrome controversy. I-196 construction is wrapping up soon, and cooler weather is hitting west Michigan this weekend.

1  Down syndrome drag show that was supposed to kick off art prize project 1 has been cancelled. 

The show was supposed to be held at Tanglefoot which is owned by Peter Meijer, the grandson of Meijer stores co-founder Frederik Meijer and a Republican candidate for the U.S. Congress seat currently held by Rep. Justin Amash. 

Peter Meijer joins us in studio.

2 The westbound I-196 bridge over the Grand River in downtown Grand Rapids is scheduled to reopen next week.

MDOT says that over the coming next week, crews will install a barrier wall and all of the signs and be open and ready before Labor Day. 

3 An Early Fall Like Cool Down Through Sunday

One of the stronger cold fronts since June will bring Southwest Michigan pleasant weather through Sunday. Highs will be in 70s Friday and Saturday, warming to near 80 by Sunday. Lows will range from the upper 30s to near 40 north, to near 50 central and south. (National Weather Service)
