WML Monday: Cell Phone Store Break Ins, Prevented Tragedies, & the Economy

Multiple cell phone store breaks ins this morning, a possible economic slowdown on the horizon, and several potential tragedies prevented by communities "see something-say something."

BIG 3

1  Authorities in three states say they stopped three potential tragedies over the past few days. All three cases were brought to their attention thanks to tips from the public.

-- In Connecticut, a 22-year-old was arrested after he allegedly expressed interest on Facebook.

-- In Florida, a 25-year-old was arrested after he sent his ex-girlfriend disturbing and threatening text messages.

-- In Ohio a 20-year-old was arrested after he allegedly threatened to shoot up a Jewish community center in Youngstown. A video posted on a social media account belonging to him showed a man firing a gun. The community center was tagged in the video.

2 Two more cellphone store break-ins which happened less than an hour apart early this morning are being investigated. T-Mobile store on 28th Street near Eastern Avenue. Officers did see a vehicle leaving the scene and are still searching for it. It’s unclear if anything was stolen from the store. Then around a half hour later, an alarm was trigged at the Cricket Wireless store on Alpine Avenue south of 4 Mile Road.

3 34 % of economists surveyed by the National Association for Business Economics, in a report being released Monday, said they believe a slowing economy will tip into recession in 2021.

President Trump says otherwise.
