President Trump is suggesting NBC should fire Debra Messing after the "Will & Grace" actress said the names of the commander in chief's donors who attended a fundraiser should be publicly identified.
Trump tweeted that if Messing were Roseanne Barr, she would have already been fired despite having higher ratings for her program. Barr was fired by ABC last year for a racist tweet about Valerie Jarrett, the former Obama White House aide.
Messing had encouraged The Hollywood Reporter in a tweet last week to publish the names of attendees at an upcoming fundraiser for Trump in Beverly Hills after the news outlet first reported on the event in late August.
The 51-year-old actress — a frequent critic of Trump who appeared onstage at the 2016 Democratic National Convention — faced intense blowback from the tweet, with critics saying her suggestion could lead to a Hollywood "blacklist."
Messing posted a message Wednesday from her "Will & Grace" co-star Eric McCormack, who had also urged The Hollywood Reporter to reveal the identities of the Trump donors "so the rest of us can be clear about who we don't wanna work with."
McCormack said his remark was "misinterpreted," writing, “I absolutely do not support blacklists or discrimination of any kind, as anyone who knows me would attest."
Trump's Thursday tweet was the second time in a matter of days that the president targeted Messing on Twitter.
