Staggering Number of Voters Believe Media Fabricates Stories

INJOA new Politico/Morning Consult poll shows a staggering 46 percent of all voters, almost half of the voting population, believe the media fabricates stories about President Donald Trump and his administration. Only 37 percent of voters believe the media is not fabricating stories.

It's important to note that the voters aren't saying the stories are misleading, or just unfair — reporting legitimate news with a hostile tone. What they're saying is that the media makes them up out of whole cloth. With trust in media at or near all-time lows, the poll reveals that when Donald Trump fights back against the increasingly hostile media elite, the people back him up.

It's no secret that left-leaning media outlets rode a ratings bonanza during Trump's first nine months in office, responding to their markets insatiable appetite for sordid scoops about the Trump administration.

“The ongoing tit for tat helps explain the online-traffic records for both newspapers and why they are, more than ever, the tip sheets and storyboards for cable and broadcast news,” wrote Vanity Fair's James Warren in September.
