MUSKEGON, Mich. -- Muskegon firefighters report no injuries after a fire gutted one unit and did significant smoke and water damage to some adjacent units at the Glen Oaks Apartments.
Muskegon Deputy Fire Director Jay Paulson said in a news release that the fire is believed to have broken out in a bedroom around 5:25 p.m. Sunday. The cause is being investigated.
The damage displaced residents from 36 apartment units at the complex on Glen Oaks Drive near Marquette Avenue.
The fire department says the American Red Cross is assisting them with temporary housing and other needs.
The fire department said in the release:

Muskegon Township Fire Department, Norton Shores Fire Department, Norton Shores Canteen, Fruitport Fire Department, Muskegon Heights Fire Department, Muskegon Police Department, Michigan State Police and Trinity Health EMS for their assistance and support during the incident.
