Ottawa Co.'s second annual Veterans Stand Down & Resource Fair Thursday

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. -- Ottawa County Veterans Services and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will host the second annual Veterans Stand Down and Resource Fair on Thursday.

The even will be held at Central Park Place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free to attend and is open to veterans and military families.

The fair will bring together more than 65 vendors offering services to veterans and military families. Attendees will have access to VA claims assistance, free giveaways, educational opportunities, employment resources and more.

"We are honored to partner in the community to bring resources closer to where veterans live," said Michelle Martin, Battle Creek VA Executive Medical Center Director. "These community partners are providing essential resources and information for people who served in the military."

The event will be held in Grand Haven this year to expand outreach accessibility for veterans throughout the county.

"Our mission is to ensure every veteran in Ottawa County has access to the resources and support they've earned," said Jason Schenkel, Director of Ottawa County Veterans Services. "By bringing the Stand Down to Grand Haven, we're reaching more veterans, strengthening community connections, and creating a welcoming space where those who served can find the hep they need."

Veterans are encourage to bring a copy of their DD-214 or current military ID card. Those needing assistance obtaining their DD-214 can contact Ottawa County Veterans Services for help.
