OTSEGO, Mich. -- Anyone with information that can help police figure out who set a playground structure on fire earlier this month in Otsego should contact the city's police department.
The Department of Public Safety says it is seeking the public's assistance with the investigation.
It happened September 2, around 12:20 in the morning.
Otsego Public Safety Director Brad Misner said in a news release a section of the wooden structure was on fire at Northside Park when firefighters arrived on the scene. They prevented it from spreading to the rest of the play area. The park is on Watson Road near River Street.
The Plainwell Department of Public Safety and the Allegan County Sheriff's Office have been assisting the Otsego DPS with the investigation. They determined right away that the fire was deliberately set due to how quickly spread.
The Otsego Police Department said it is actively investigating this crime and is requesting anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Otsego Police department at (269)-692-6111.
