Gerald R Ford Airport voted finalist for best small airport

(GRAND RAPIDS, MI) If you have traveled through the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, you already know we have one of the best airports around and now the rest of the country is discovering what we already know. USA today says that we have been selected as a readers’ choice finalist. If you would like to cast your vote you can do so at 10best.usatoday.com/awards/best-small-airport/

The voting is open now and you can cast your ballot up until October 6th at 11:59 in the morning they will announce the winners on October 15th.

Airport Authority President and CEO Tory Richardson, says they are honored to once again be selected as a reader’s choice finalist for best small airport in 2025. Richardson says they had 4-million people use the airport in 2024 which broke a record. She is also pleased with how capital expansion has progressed. The 750-million-dollar investment aptly called ELEVATE will see 6 projects completed when its all said and done:

  • Expansion and widening of Concourse A which added 155,000 square feet of space, including eight new gates, five additional restaurants and enhanced amenities.
  • A federal inspection station to support nonstop international commercial passenger flights
  • Relocation of the air traffic control tower to make space for diverse terminal-area developments
  • Michigan’s first consolidated rental car facility
  • Expansion of the terminal curb front
  • Construction of an additional parking garage
