GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Kent County Veterans Services will host the fourth annual Homeless Veteran Stand Down on Thursday, September 11.
The free event is open to all Kent County veterans and will provide health screenings and access to food and clothing.
It is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The Stand Down will take place just east of the Veterans Services building at 1222 Bradford Street. That is just east of Fuller Avenue.

Kent County Veterans Services (KCVS) is proud to welcome veterans, vendors, and volunteers to the fourth annual Homeless Veteran Stand Down event on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
This FREE event is open to all Kent County veterans and will provide access to food, clothing, and health screenings. Last year, more than 100 veterans were served, and organizers hope to reach even more this year.
Sponsored by the VA, Stand Down will take place just east of the Veterans Services building at 1222 Bradford St. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
“Kent County is deeply committed to supporting our veterans, especially those who are most vulnerable,” said Ryan Grams, Director of Kent County Veterans Services. “Our veterans have dedicated themselves to serving our country, and it’s our duty and privilege to provide them with the resources and assistance they need."
This year’s event will feature more than 45 vendors, offering resources such as benefit claims assistance, health care, housing solutions, employment services, substance use treatment, mental health counseling, and other essential support.
In addition, more than 50 volunteers are scheduled to help at the event, assisting with traffic flow, will serve meals, and guide veterans to the many resources available on-site. If you’re interested in getting involved as a volunteer, please contact us to learn more.
