A dog park in Byron Center is scheduled to close on May 1, however the community is pushing back.
The Byron Township Board voted on March 10 to shut down the park. The vote passed 4-3.
At that meeting, two people shared concerns about the park and requested it be shut down. There was no notice to the community that the park would be up for discussion at the meeting.
Neighbors say they are frustrated they did not have an opportunity to share their thoughts before a decision was made. Hundreds of community members have signed a petition to keep the park open.
