Habitat for Humanity of Kent County is announcing a new project with a goal of building 100 affordable housing units in the city of Grand Rapids over the next three years.
The nonprofit says the "Imagine Campaign" aims to raise $8 million toward the initiative which is estimated to cost over $33 million.
The organization says they have already raised $6 million for the project.
A 2022 assessment determined the county needs to add roughly 35,000 housing units to address a growing shortage.
