Fruitport custodian arrested; local students not involved

Michigan State Police have apprised the Fruitport Community Schools that they have arrested a Fruitport High School custodian on suspicion of possessing inappropriate material involving minors. District Superintendent Jason Kennedy informed parents about the situation in a letter, after Michigan State Police detectives showed up at the school yesterday to inform administrators that the custodian is suspected of possessing inappropriate material involving minors. He wrote that State Police detectives told administrators they have no evidence that the illicit content involved any Fruitport Community Schools students. Kennedy also said that the custodian was employed through a third-party contractor, but had still undergone a comprehensive background check.
