6,148 frozen turkeys collected for this year's Turkey Drop

Thanks to the public's generosity, 6,148 frozen turkeys were able to be collected for this year's 21st Mel Trotter Turkey Drop, far surpassing the original 5000 frozen turkey goal.

This year's turkey drop took place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at several different drop-off locations across West Michigan. The Turkey Drop is an annual tradition in collaboration with those of us here at WOOD Radio, Celebration Cinemas and Mel Trotter Ministries to collect frozen turkeys and distribute them to those in need.

It was also made possible with help from Muskegon Rescue Mission and Gateway Mission in Holland. Feeding America West Michigan will be providing storage for the turkeys and will be in charge of distributing them leading up to the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Monetary donations can still be made here.
