This is peak season for car-deer crashes in Kent Co.

Firearm deer season opens in Michigan on Friday, which is a key day for conservationists working to keep a growing deer population down.

Kent County was identified as the number-one county for car-deer collisions in Michigan in 2023.

That statistic is creating busy days for Andy Albertson who is in charge of patrolling the county to pick up hit animals off the road.

Albertson says he has already picked up 4,400 deer carcasses off the road this year.
