UM Health-West ending rheumatology program

GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - The rheumatology program at University of Michigan Health-West will be shutting down at the end of next month.

In part, it's due to a lack of doctors and long patient wait times.

An internal email from the medical group president also says they know the closure will be disruptive for patients.

Rheumatologists see patients for inflammatory and auto immune diseases.
