GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Masks will not be required for students in the Grand Rapids Public Schools, but they are being encouraged ahead of next week's start of the new school year.

The district outlined its new communicable disease guidance in a letter that was recently sent to parents.

Parents are also being urged to get their children vaccinated.

Students who test positive for coronavirus will have to isolate for five days.
