Kentwood Police Chief Retiring in December

KENTWOOD, Mich. - Kentwood Police Chief Richard Roberts announced that he will be retiring from his post after 34 years of service.

Roberts was the first police chief hired from inside the department, serving as chief since November 2019. He joined the department as a police paramedic in 1987.

Roberts' retirement will take effect Dec. 10.

According to a KPD news release, Mayor Stephen Kepley is recommending Deputy Chief Bryan Litwin to fill the police chief position. The city commission will consider the appointment during its Dec. 7 meeting.
