Country Music legend Charlie Daniels, 83, has died

Acclaimed Country Music Hall of Fame and Grand Ole Opry member Charlie Daniels, 83, has died while under care at Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, Tenn.

The iconic country music star had accumulated a slew of accolades and awards during his long career in music, including his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Musicians Hall of Fame and becoming a member of the Grand Ole Opry.

The Charlie Daniels Band had numerous hits and remained a staple in Country music radio. Daniels most enduring hit, "The Devil Went Down To Georgia", was tale of a young man named Johnny who challenged the devil to a fiddle-playing contest and came away with a violin made of gold.
