Pence: Turkey Agrees To Ceasefire In Northern Syria

(Ankara, Turkey) -- Vice President Mike Pence says Turkey has agreed to a ceasefire in northern Syria. He made the announcement after a long meeting with Turkish President Recep Erdogan in Ankara. Pence called it a great contribution to security in the volatile region. Turkey started attacking Kurds in northern Syria after President Trump announced the withdrawal of U.S. troops from the region. Trump's order provoked bipartisan condemnation in Congress. Pence said the ceasefire will allow for an orderly withdrawal of Kurdish forces, who have been helping U.S. troops combat ISIS in northern Syria.
