West Ottawa hosts Special Olympics basketball tournament

13 teams from across West Michigan, including the host Panthers, participated in the event.

The event was part of a class project by senior Derek McNitt who is a part of the school's L.I.N.K.S. program.  The program pairs students in the program with classmates who have special needs.

"I didn't plan it last year but I came around and it was so much energy and so much fun," said McNitt.  "I just wanted to be able to plan that and be a part of it."
