1 dead, 2 injured after Muskegon Co. crash

EGELSTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — One person was killed and two others injured in a crash on East Apple Avenue east of Muskegon Friday evening.

The multi-vehicle crash happened just around 5:45 p.m. at the intersection of East Apple Avenue and South Maple Island road in Egelston Township.

The Muskegon County Sheriff's Department said a man driving a work van was heading west on East Apple Avenue and didn't stop at a red light, rear-ending a pickup truck that was stopped.

Authorities say the crash pushed both vehicles into the intersection where they struck a truck heading north on South Maple Island Road and an SUV heading south on South Maple Island Road.

Deputies say the man who was driving the work van was pinned and was not responding to medical treatment and died at the scene. The driver and passenger of the northbound truck were both treated for minor injuries.

No further details have been released at this time as this crash remains under investigation.
