The Who pick Grand Rapids for 1st stop on new tour

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Who is coming to Grand Rapids’ Van  Andel Arena as the renown rock band prepares to release its first new  album in 13 years.

Grand Rapids will be Singer Roger Daltrey and  guitarist and songwriter Pete Townshend’s first stop on the “North  American Moving On” tour. They are scheduled to perform at 7:30 p.m. on  May 7, accompanied by backup singer Simon Townshend, keyboardist Loren  Gold, bassist Jon Button and drummer Zak Starkey, as well as best  orchestras in the U.S. and Canada

The rockers plan to perform in 29 cities during the tour, which runs from May 7 to June 1 and Sept. 6 to Oct. 23.

Tickets  for the Grand Rapids concert will go on sale to the general public  Friday at 10 a.m., after the fan club and venue presales. Fans can  purchase tickets at the Van Andel Arena and DeVos Place box offices, on Ticketmaster’s website or by calling 1.800.745.3000.

Promoters say $1 from each ticket sold during the tour will go to Teen Cancer America.
