Suspected drunk driver injured after fiery crash

DECATUR TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say charges could be coming after a suspected drunk driver was injured when his car caught fire after hitting a tree in Van Buren County Saturday morning.

Authorities say it happened around 2:46 a.m. near the intersection of 76th Avenue and 39th Street northeast of Decatur.

Sheriff Daniel E. Abbott says the driver, a 19-year-old man from Berrien Springs drove his vehicle off the road where he hit a tree head on before coming back into the road where the vehicle caught fire.
