Thieves target Montcalm Co. dealer twice hit by fire

MONTCALM TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A Montcalm County business twice destroyed by fires is now being targeted by thieves.

Nelson’s Speed Shop posted a plea for help on Facebook Monday. The business north of Greenville said someone broke into its  lot over the weekend and took an enclosed Triton trailer, two Polaris  side-by-sides, two Honda dirt bikes and a white Ford pickup truck with  Nelson’s Speed Shop decals emblazoned on it.

The ATV dealer later said its truck and trailer were found.

Nelson’s Speed Shop went up in flames on June 22, 2012 and 2001.

Two men allegedly hired by a Lansing area competitor were convicted of setting the first fire.

After  the 2012 fire, Nelson’s Speed Shop operated out of a couple of  snowmobile trailers until they could rebuild their business at 4566 S.  Greenville Road in Montcalm Township.

Nelson’s Speed Shop says the  Michigan State Police are investigating the weekend thefts. Anyone with  information is encouraged to contact the Lakeview post at 989.352.8444.
