Ferris beats Minnesota State, heads to national championship

MANKATO, Minn. (via WOOD TV 8) — Ferris State University defeated Minnesota State University 42-25 Saturday afternoon, advancing to the Division II National Championship.

The Bulldogs trailed 7-0 in the first quarter when Marvin Campbell burst through the line and raced 40 yards for a touchdown to tie the game 7-7.

Trailing 10-7 Ferris State would score the next two touchdowns.  Jayru Campbell hit Malik Taylor on a short crossing route.  Taylor was able to turn it up field and avoid a tackle before plowing into the end zone for the go-ahead touchdown, 14-10.

In the second quarter, Campbell handed to Sy Barnett who motored into the front corner of the end zone for a 21-10 Bulldog lead.
