GRPD: Man in custody for father, teen son shootings

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A 22-year-old man is in custody on charges tied to the weekend shootings of a father and his teenage son.

Otis Lee Walker-Houston turned himself in to police, according to a Wednesday afternoon news release from the Grand Rapids Police Department.

Walker-Houston faces felony charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, being a felon in possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon in connection the Sunday shooting along Watkins Street at Fuller Avenue SE, near Martin Luther King Jr. Park.

Officers found a 17-year-old boy and his 48-year-old father with gunshot wounds. They were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive.

GRPD have not released the victims’ names or any possible motive in the case.

After the shooting, police surrounded a nearby home they believed was connected to the shooting and shut down stretches of Watkins and Fuller. They later entered the house, confirmed the shooter was not inside and started processing it for evidence.
