Grand Rapids restaurant serves up 70's feel, comfort food

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A new restaurant now open in Grand Rapids’ Heritage Hill neighborhood is taking patrons back in time.

The Commons restaurant, located in the basement of The Oakwood at 547 Cherry Street SE, served up its first meal Wednesday.

The 3,500 square-foot restaurant plays on owner Beth Rich’s childhood memories, with 1970s décor, retro comfort food and ‘70s themed drinks with a modern twist. The Commons also offers craft beer  and items for pickup, including packaged beer, wine, deli and limited groceries.
