GRPD: 5-year-old girl shot in head 'making great progress'

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids detectives are continuing to search for suspects in a shooting that wounded a 5-year-old girl and her 17-year-old brother.

Police say someone outside pointed a gun toward the house and opened fire, shooting the victims inside.

The 5-year-old girl suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head, but police said Tuesday her condition has drastically improved and she is expected to survive. The Grand Rapids Police Department says the girl remains in the hospital but is in stable condition and making great progress.

The 17-year-old boy was also taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released.
