Rockford power outage prompts North Middle School closure

ROCKFORD, Mich. (WOOD) — More than 1,100 Consumers Energy customers are without power in Rockford Friday morning.

The outage was first reported around 10:30 p.m. Thursday after a vehicle hit a power pole, knocking down lines. The utility company expects power to be restored around 8:30 a.m. Friday, according to the Consumers Energy outage map.

As crews work to repair the damaged power lines, 10 Mile Road is closed between Wolverine Boulevard and Lincoln Street in downtown Rockford. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek an alternative route.
