Charges issued in Hope College student sex assault

HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — Holland police are asking for the community’s help in tracking down the suspect in a sex assault near Hope College's campus.

Tristen Reyes, 31, is facing one criminal sexual conduct charge of assault with intent to commit sexual penetration, and a second charge of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection to the Oct. 20 incident.

Police say two 21-year-old Hope College students were walking on the sidewalk along 14th Street near College Avenue when the suspect approached one of them from behind, grabbed her and forcibly touched her.

The victims friend, who was walking a short distance ahead of her, heard the assault, turned around, and yelled at the man.
