Ionia Schools worker diagnosed with bacterial meningitis

IONIA, Mich. (WOOD)  — Ionia Public Schools is reassuring parents after a school employee was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis.

In a Wednesday letter to parents, the district’s school nurse said H. Influenza was responsible for the school employee’s illness, not the more serious Neisseria Meningitis.

The nurse said she had contacted the Ionia County Health Department, which did not recommend any precautionary measures or antibiotics, just encouraged awareness of the disease.
