ArtPrize finalist shows 'journey through life'

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — One of the artists up for the $200,000 public vote grand prize at ArtPrize 10 is a longtime West Michigan resident who is a writer as well as a painter.

"I'm very excited. I thought I would jump up and down, but actually I got kind of glassy-eyed, and I never get glassy-eyed," David Stricklen said of finding out that he was in the Final 20, which were announced Sunday.

Stricklen's three-dimensional piece Our Time In The Infinite is on display at The B.O.B. It shows several books, two towers, a young boy and an old man.
